Believe in Me - Childrens' Development Centre, Gurgaon
Completed : 2024; 1200 sq.ft.
This project entailed interior design of a therapy center for neurodivergent children in the age group of 3-12 years. The site
was a wing of an existing playschool with a bareshell look. The project which is a pilot project for the Believe-in-Me group
needed to be converted and brought into a working condition in 30 days while keeping the welfare of the current students of
the playschool in mind.
The design concept revolved around finding low cost and fast turn around solutions while keeping the aesthetic value of a
child both toddler to young teen in mind. The front area which was a waiting space for parents’ as well as children was
designed using a ceiling element that both defined the movement corridor as well as the seating area as a space of pause.
The therapy rooms were designed for one-on0one as well as group therapy using vibrant furniture which was easy to access
for both the child as well as the therapist. A large space with soft floor was designed with specialised tools for occupational
therapy.
The ceiling element was designed using MS frame and a simple sewed on thread. The conduiting and services in the space
were exposed as the tenancy rules didn’t allow chasing in the ceiling. The ceiling helped make the services less obscure
while making the space vibrant and cheerful.
Yellow shape bands link the floor and the wall further defining the space into a cohesive whole and defining entry into the
therapy rooms and private spaces of the center.
